Description

Daniel Bellegarde invites you to explore a musical journey where the quadrilles and contradances that rocked his childhood meet vibrant and modern influences. The quadrille, a dance inherited from the French colonial era, has crossed eras and continents to metamorphose into Haiti, integrating African elements, recalling the history shared between Europe and Africa. The percussionist pays homage to these traditional rhythms and dances, while infusing them with renewed energy into Brazilian sound colors by reinventing them through his Celtic influences, creating a unique and mesmerizing fusion. The drum, the beating heart of this performance, will serve as a bridge between European and African traditions, recalling the cultural exchanges born of this tumultuous period of history. A vibrant tribute to the richness of cultural mixtures and to the soul of peoples who have been able, through music and dance, to express their common history and their creative force. Winner of the 2022 and 2018 Global Music Awards in the United States, Daniel has been nominated for the GAMIQ Awards, the Canadian folk music Awards and the Independent Music Awards in the United States.
